Just a quick update this one on White Gloss Wardrobes it seems your best bet in the Uk is going to be somewhere quite mainstream that is Argos.

Argos Wardrobes are quite diverse and they do offer two gloss pieces when it comes to Wardrobes, these are both from their Roma Bedroom Furniture collection. Other than if you are considering fitted furniture then we are certain that the fitters, due to the bespoke nature of the furniture will be able to source a white gloss.

A word of warning though a proper full blown white gloss wardrobe like that shown in the picture will be very hard to maintain and keep its pristine finish in tip top condition. If you are considering a gloss finish for children's bedroom furniture it might be worth considering going for White Painted Pine Wardrobes.

Other than that it might be worth having a quick scout at Rauch Furniture as this company at least offer a highly polished finish on their wardrobes.

It might be worth waiting for the furniture sales as well this sort of item does tend to get discounted heavily at this time.

Although we have a distinctly Wardrobe themed site here on Wardrobes For Sale we do also like to keep an eye out for good prices on other furniture.

Recently a number of new sites have cropped up which seem to offer a great deal on furniture.

Oak Sideboards
A lot of Sideboards featured here mainly made from Real Solid Oak, they offer free delivery to the UK mainland and prices seem pretty keen. Style wise mostly contemporary style although we think the Rustic Oak ranges are becoming even more contemporary now than..... current contemporary oak furniture.

Oak Coffee Tables
A site with a very similar theme to Oak Sideboards but this time focused on Oak Coffee Tables. We have noticed a number of other types of furniture not just Oak here, Mahogany and Mango feature quite a lot as well. We also suspect that dual purpose coffee tables are becoming more fashionable. Dual Purpose that is coffee tables with storage in them like drawers or box.

New Dining Tables
Over on New Dining Tables they have a wide range of Tables on offer mainly made from Oak and Mango woods. Fantastic quality and prices seem very aggressive once more. In terms of style the tables are a mix of contemporary, indian style and rustic with a touch of ultra modern and shabby chic.

One option for Wardrobes is the World Famous brand of Ikea. The company sell an awful lot of furniture and some almost become product names in their own right for example the Billy Bookcase.

Ikeas offer is almost unique, the likes of Furniture Village and Harveys have much the same offer stocking some famous brands like G Plan Furniture. There are some new retailers offering something different for example Oak Furniture Land offering their own label furniture based on very high quality at competitive prices.

There is also Rauch Furniture which is arguably the closet offer to Ikeas when it comes to wardrobes.

So Ikea Wardrobes you are not likely to find amazing quality but what you do get is fairly decent flat packed furniture at a competitive price. Generally I think the style would have to be described as ultra modern

The PAX Ikea Wardrobe in the picture is currently selling for £415 which is a fair price for what it is. If you wanted a Two Door Wardrobe High Quality Wardrobe your best value is likely to be found at Oak Furniture Land but price around the same level and a lot smaller.

So it seems to be a case you needing to balance of size, quality and price.

It is not just PAX that Ikea offer one of their better selling wardrobes is the Mammut wardrobe. This wardrobe has a unique design as it made to look like it is a doorway going to another room. The Mammut comes in quite a range of vibrant colours making it something of a girls wardrobe.

It seems like it is very hard to get any Ikea Voucher Codes so if you are looking for a deal then you would be best advised to wait for the sales or maybe even consider a Rauch Wardrobe and looking for a company with a good offer on Rauch Bedroom Furniture.

Despite the sales being over you can still pick up some good wardrobe deals for example Right Price Furniture are sometimes doing a today only section.

Today for example they were featuring Coffee Tables but eventually they are bound to come round to wardrobes.

In the current economic climate then going for a lower quality Wardrobe might seem like a good idea but some of the prices you can get for say Solid Oak Wardrobes are quite amazing compared to your traditional retailers like John Lewis or Marks and Spencers.

As ever shop around if you are at all nervous buy a credit card not a debit card and take your time it is a buyers market after all!

Fitted Wardrobes if you shop around then I'm confident you can get a good deal. They seem to have so many promotions on at the momnent to make it sound like they you actually pay you to order off them. That is of course a joke but first up is order a free brochure and they will enter you in a free draw with a top prize of £3,000.

Then they are offering additional discounts twenty percent if it is over a certain value and an extra fifteen percent if ordered before a certain date.

Not bad overall.

Found an interesting web page comparing Oak and Pine wood, Pine Oak Furniture, This web page gave me some facts on this subject which I was surprised to read.

Well the sales are about to start and on the big furniture sites has a major sale on so check out the John Lewis Sale, another big company doing a push on furniture this year seems to be Homebase so the Homebase Sale is well worth a look.

The big three internet retailers who seem to major on the really high quality at low prices are well worth a dabble these are Oak Furniture Land, Pine Solutions and of course Right Price. It seems Right Price has now changed ownership and so far the quality looks fine.

As far as wardrobe fashion is concerned this season I think the Shabby Chic look is going to be massive, I think the French style wardrobes peaked last year. Although there is some crossover in these styles Shabby Chic does have its own style, not really distressed but painted distressed is how I would define it.

So here is a general buying guide of things to consider when buying a wardrobe.

Fitted or Free-standing Wardrobes
Buying a free standing wardrobe is going to be easier to source as they are designed to fit a specific area. It could be argued that a free standing wardrobe will give a room a more individual look compared to say a fitted wardrobe which make the room look more formal and stream lined.

A fitted wardrobe is more likely to give you more storage space though.

Storage of Clothes
A major concern is going to be the position of the hanging rail, it's always worth bearing in mind if you have an expensive gown or suit to store.

Looks and Style of Wardrobe
As we've already stated second to the bed the style and look of a wardrobe is vitally important to the overall impression the bedroom gives.

It is possible to still get a custom made wardrobe if something off the shelf doesn't suit. In saying that a lot of retailers now offer rustic and distressed furniture but if one them doesn't suit you could consider an antique.

Wardrobes On A Budget
Flat pack has a suggestion cheap and poor quality but it's worth noting that even the Solid Furniture often comes partially assembled. Proper flat pack is worth considering some companies even offer solid wood flat packed wardrobes, e.g. Core Products, which in turn should have a very long life.

It's not just about the quality of the wood but also worth checking out the quality of hinges and drawer mechanisms. If their proving to be difficult in the furniture store after a few years use they'll be a nightmare.

If you've read the Pine Wardrobes page you'll have noticed I've already stated that looking for Pine Wardrobes then this already infers a style.

I'm going to be biased here and say right off the bat that Devonshire Pine Wardrobes will be the best you can buy assuming your after that traditional style. Their 100% solid Pine and, get this, still made in the UK.

If your after something a little different then maybe their not the ideal choice.

However I also know that Devonshire Pine are not exactly embracing the Internet age, first off the photos that they distribute are not exactly stunning and they have also asked all Internet retailers to de brand their products. This is a face palm moment, you have a strong brand and then go and give all that up.

There are two big retailers online of Devonshire Pine, these are Furniture Today and Right Price Furniture. I do know that Right Price have re-branded their furniture to Evergreen to if you see the Evergreen brand on that site then it's Devonshire Pine.

Other sites that have a decent Solid Pine Wardrobes offer are Pine Solutions, you can normally get a taste for it's build quality off the price.

Yesterday someone pointed out to me that actually that the Brooklyn All Hanging Wardrobe from Right Price Furniture was actually cheaper than the New Dorset from Pine Solutions.

It's fairly close actually and both seem to have attracted good reviews so currently it's between

The styles are pretty much the same with a contemporary look to both.

Once you start looking for more of a Rustic or Chunky finish then it's worth looking at Oak Furniture Land.

Pine Solutions £429 - Right Price £449

Solid Oak
As a benchmark I'm going to look for a 100% Solid Oak Wardrobe.
Very quickly on this search the big names are ruled out, for example the Tesco Oakland Wardrobe despite costing £299 is a veneer.

Furniture Village at £1,169 were completely over the top, I was aiming at a price of around £500 max. Marks and Spencer's didn't seem to even have an offer that matched.

So next it was to the independents there are four big players in this field, these are companies that have been around for a long time, so you've almost got as much security as with a Furniture Village (more so if you took MFI as an example).

These are:-

Furniture Today
Pine Solutions
Oak Furniture Land
Right Price Furniture

If your after a contemporary style then Pine Solutions New Dorset carries the lowest ticket price although there is a delivery charge which throws the price up a little.

The New Dorset isn't a brand as such but it sounds decent and looking at reviews no doubt it's a quality piece of furniture.

Furniture Today £450

Right behind them are Furniture Today who with their Hereford Collection and at £450 Delivered looks to be a good deal and their offering a fast delivery.

As an outsider then Right Price Furniture with their Evergreen Rustic isn't a bad price considering it's Devonshire Pine Re badged. Devonshire Pine do have a little brand equity so might be worth a little more.

Just on the outside of this trio is Oak Furnitureland who at £487 are surprisingly given their normally aggressive prices not even in the running.

Now there are others out there who you could argue that could offer a similar sort of deal but they are mostly new start-ups.

Whilst I like to give new companies a try given the recent spat of furniture companies going through would prefer to trust a supplier that's been around for years.

They are all still independent companies so we're not sucking up to the man that much :)
